When do you play at your best? When you have a huge lead, when you have a narrow lead, when you are slightly behind or when you are way behind.
I don't mean when do you win the most, everyone's answer would be when they have a huge lead, but when do you play at you're very best. I play at my very best when I'm way behind. A stand out game was against a guy I was 11-0 down in a best of 31. I won 16 frames on the bounce against him by playing as near as perfect as humanly possible. I haven't found that gear since and only seem to come close when I'm really far behind. I have a theory that it's a person's personality that dictates how you react in all the above options. My personality hates losing, and especially hates losing big or losing by not playing my best. I've come away from games before and played as well as I could and still lost, but I've gone home happy. Others I see play phenomenal, lose, and go home passed off. That's just not me. Personally I think that type of personality is the personality of a Ronnie O'Sullivan, Earl Strickland type. They get to where they are and have achieved so much by never being happy with what they achieve. Makes them keep wanting. I'm just happy with playing at my best, and the result comes second. Probably why I didn't have the determination to make a real go of playing professional snooker.
So, try keep your answers honest, and let's see who could potentially be an Earl Strickland.
