incentive for playing at a particular venue.

My post is going go deal with league players but I suppose it could pertain to any player that chooses to play at a particular due to whatever perks or discounts that establishment may offer.

I have read on here many times that establishments in some areas offer league players free table time for playing there. No one around here offers free play but one has offered free practice before and after league play for a long time. I played masters in this same venue yesterday and found out that not only is he offering free practice but he is changing to a flat fee of 15.00 per player per session green fee instead of paying quarters for your matches. It may be a lil higher as I just heard that is what some one said he thought it was going to be. Regardless if its 20.00 a session its a heck of a deal as our sessions are 16 weeks long playing 2 matches a night. Less than a dollar a week. Lately 2 other venues have also begun offering free practice. Those are the only ones out of a dozen or so venues that apa plays at.

Now this part is going to probly be a little long so kindly stop here if you don't like long winded posts. I just feel its necessary to go into detail so you will know what exactly has transpired .

2 sessions ago a new in house division was started with only 4 teams in hopes of expanding to more teams fairly quickly. I moved my team here and btw this is the 2nd venue to start offering free practice time.

At the end of the session we were told that our division was going to be changed to a travel division in order to add 2 teams from a new venue that was opening up right down the road. This new venue happens fo be owned by an apa player that had to teams that had been playing at another venue for years....the first venue listed above .

Well it was no big deal as it did expand our division to 6 teams and his place is only 5 minutes down the road. Our place has 16 tables and this new place has 18 tables btw .

Now here is where shit hits the fan so to speak. The owner of this new place gets 2 of the original teams to move to his place this next session....which starts next week btw.

Well that's not bad you think ? No not really because I thought it still would be 6 teams traveling between the 2 venues only 5 minutes apart.

But oh no. That aint good enough for this new owner.. He wants his 2 teams and the 2 teams hw talked into moving there to play strictly in house there and I believe he has gotten a few more to move there also. I have no idea what he has offered these teams to move there and really dont care.

What I do care about is it leaves 2 teams in limbo as to what we are going fo do. I text my lo and said it should be travel between the 6 teams like we agreed in order to expand this division. The co captain of the other remaining team says he does not want to play any of those 4 teams and wants to move his team to another travel league.

Well if he does that it really leaves me in a pickle because who the heck is my team gonna play ? I dont think they are willing to travel across town.

Why am I mentioning all this in a thread about venues and incentives you wonder. ? Well it just so happens that my home venue...the one with just one remaining team on sunday night apparently has announced that if any team that is based out of his venue qualifies for nationals he will match the travel funds our team receives from apa fo go to nationals. That is one helluva incentive to remain at this venue. My Thursday 9 ball team also calls this venue home btw.

I believe those 2 teams that left will probably regret their move when they find out what they will lose if they do qualify for nationals.

I am just waiting to hear what the lo is going to do to remedy this situation as to whether its still a travel league between us 6 teams or does this new owner get his in house league after taking 2 of our original teams.
