Info about Carolina Custom cues

Well. I went down to Visit with Trevor and mike of Carolina Custom Cues, and returned to him personally the cues left from the Windy City event, and the $$ for a sold cue... But I want to tell everyone what I saw there...

First off this is not a production cue shop as someone posted here before. It is truly a custom shop! Granted they have several employees that have assigned duties in the making of each cue, but each one is an expert in his field They have one of the best design people in the business that also is a frequent poster on this board. And Trevor is the lathe master, and does all the fitting, and approves each cue before it leaves the shop.

Mike is a master at the UV Finish they apply, in fact we spent much time discussing the ins and outs of this type of finish. They have a huge selection of wood on hand and several hundred shafts in various stages of their turnings..

They also were showing me the new designs that will be released at the Super Billiards Expo, and everyone will be impressed. There is at least 6 lathes in this shop, and more cnc machines than in many Winston cup race shops. They have a new machine that will be up and running soon that will perform tapering on 5 shafts at a time.. Very impressive layout and a well spaced shop.

I also discovered that Mike used to work at a room in Mississippi and he and Trevor, who apprenticed with Tascarella, are familiar with the old school makers, hence the traditional type designs. There is a new inlay that even received special permission from it's original designer for Carolina Cues to incorporate. This will knock off many peoples socks when released!!

I saw several cues that were special ordered by other members of AZ, and when the pics are released many people will be contacting them for similar work..They have also taken the input of existing customers and tweaked several of their initially released cues and incorporated the change into future cues... Everything is good down there, and they are agressive and should do very well in this business.

PS... Mike the Moore will be to ya this week for your collection, and we will finalize my design on another for my collection

Hey Joe,
Thanks for the info. Their cues are looking better, but they really are a production shop. Even their own Shop Managers admits this:

To answer your questions, we are a small production shop.
Our goal is to produce the highest quality production cues, with emphasis on the traditional styles.
There are currently 3 hall of fame players using our cues, and they are all very pleased.

We have been making cues for only a few months and we are improving our methods every day. To any that are not satisfied with the
fit and finish of their cues, we have recently changed finishing products and improved our wraps. Please feel free to ship
any cue you are not pleased with back to us and we will refinish and rewrap it at no charge.

Thank you for everyones interest and you can get our cues from us or online at www.competitionsports.com and www.customcuesandtips.com
We will send you pics if you ask our webiste is not up with pics but does give you the back ground of us.

Don't get me wrong - their cues are VERY attractive and they very well may offer the best of both worlds (custom & production). For that matter, I will be buying one soon to check it out!

Let me clear this up

Von, that was an old post when we thought we were going to focus our business a certain way, but we like doing more custom work. So we focus on Custom orders. Every cue we make our customers can pick anything they want for the cue, from veneers, woods, wraps, joints and designs. So if thats not custom then I do not know what is.
