Info about DP vs Mezz and Schon

I am looking around for a new cue and i think i want a Mezz or a Schon. The issue is i have only played with my Dale Perry for the last 6 years. I love it but it's the type of love that have for the one thing you know!
So my question is what type of hit do you get from these two compared to a DP. I dont even know what type of hit i like cause i've never shot with another cue so i cant say what i like. Maybe someone who likes DP cues as well can tell me what type of cue i like, lol!
My DP is tapered to 12.5 or 12.75 and its 19.5oz i believe.
I love the taper, cant go back to a 13mm its too big.
I've played with a buddies 18oz george bala ( the new ones) and its to fragile
Also shot with a Lucasi 2008 that i bought my buddy and its not as solid as my DP. Which i dont like.
Help please.

It doesn't seem like many AZers play DP cues and the group tends to favor custom makers over production makers so a schon or a mezz cue wouldn't even be on their list to consider.

If you have a price point in mind the group on AZ can be counted on to recommend a custom cue maker at that price - so if you want to consider that option you could change your topic.

Sorry if I knew DP cues I'd help but I don't (I think they are nice cues but never played with one).

I had an early DP before he went "mass production". I liked it, but like a Schon better.
I'll be glad to advise you to buy a Schon, but in reality, you need to hit with a Mezz and a Schon for yourself, because you aren't me. No one here knows what will suit you better, only you can decide. They are both good quality cues.

Cyork-price point is 600-700.
Highmiles- I agree and I have read about a lot of the custom makers here. My problem is I don't know what I like. I also don't have shops around me that sell quality cues, custom or production. I know I like my DP but i don't know what that means?

If you like your DP than you will love a schon. I think they have a similar hit- both ss joint and have a medium hit. Not too stiff a d whippy enough to move the cue ball with ease. I had an older DP and regret selling it. Truth be told, I keep an out for older ones every now and again. If I was forced to go production. I would not think twice a out a schon as I have owned and liked many.

I also feel a stainless steel Jensen has a similar but far superior hit and you may find one in your price range.

Schon or Mezz

I'll throw my 2 cents worth in here. First of all, if you're moving on from your DP, you can hardly go wrong with either Schon or Mezz. I've owned many Schons and now use a Mezz as my primary and my back up. I prefer a Mezz with the United Joint, as it seems play and feel more solid than the Wavy Joint. Schon and Mezz are both high quality mass production cues and both play extremely well. My Schons were as good as some of the custom cues I've owned. My Mezz, for me at least, is better than any cue I've owned. Naturally, all of this is just my personal opinion and you should demo one of each before buying. Either way, you'll be moving to a great cue that is not likely to disappoint. Best wishes.

So i ended up purchasing a Jensen from another AZ'er and i am very pleased with it. In fact I love the cue and i am extremely happy i took prewarhero's advice.
The joint is not a radial to wood like my DP but the hit and feel is great.
