info on Rauenzahn cues

Was just wondering what type of cue i can expect when i order of of his cues later this month. His name is Jerry Rauenzahn and he is out of pennsylvania. looking for both types of hits.. with a metal joint or phenolic joint. any comments would be greatly appreciated................mike

Jerry is a friend of mine as well, and also of several others who participate on this board - he will certainly work with you to give you the playing cue you want. I have had two piloted SS 5/16x14 JR's, 1 piloted ivory 5/16x14 and the last two I ordered were short ivory flat-faced 3/8x10 and to me they feel like phenolic. I prefer the short ivory 3/8x10 over any other joint/pin combination, but every cue I've owned of his hits great.

He has recently made some really nice veneered ebony SS 5/16x14 cues with ivory inlays - one with props was on ebay recently.

I have owned a few of Jerry's cues and have dealt with him personally on a couple of occasions. He was extremely friendly, courteous and helpful. All the cues that I have seen and/or owned have been very well made and were great cues for the money...way undervalued, in my opinion. His points were razor sharp and even, his leather wraps were superior. They all played very well. Just my observations......

Jerry's attention to detail is second to none. Super fast repairs at super low prices. His cues are just the kind of players you would expect from a old road player! He has been makeing cues probably as long as anybody but because his repair work is in such high demand he makes few cues. Bogie got his from me and he has owned a bunch of them. Dollar for dollar his cues are the best hitting cues period. Here is mine it is the red veneer cue with ivory spades and pink ivory inlays the other cues are a Scruggs cue( green veneers and ivory) and a 60's era hand made by R.C. Helmstetter cue ! Would you say it is in good company? It would probably be in the $1,000 range today. I hope this is helpful!
