I am kind of new in knowing about custom cues. Could any of you give me your opinions on Nova cues and McDaniel cues. How would you compare these cuemakers with the upper end cuemakers like Scruggs, Mottey,Blud, Black, etc. I have a Josey and I was thinking of trading for a Nova or maybe a McDaniel. Take care guys and keep the great posts coming.

Tim Scruggs and Bill McDaniels were partners for many years and still may be, so the cues would be about identical in quality.

Ditto...I have a friend who has a McDanials and it's a beautiful cue and hits great. He even visited his cue shop and was impressed by all the different cue making equipment McDanials had.I believe he requires half the money down to start on a cue and then the other half upon completion. My firnds cue was over $2000 and it takes 6 months for it to be ready as apparently Bill is a busy man.RJ

McDaniels & Nova

I would go the McDaniel route if for no other reason than resale value. I don't beleive Novas ,though well made, are on the same level as Black,Scruggs etc. I don't think I'd trade a Josey even up on a Nova. You are probably better off selling the Josey outright then paying cash for the Nova. You should get pretty good return on your Josey.

While a Nova Cue is not a top of the line, it is a very well made and excellent hitting cue. of all the cues i have played with, both custom and production, i like it best of all.

i dont think you can go wrong with a Nova Cue. i also believe Nubs Wagner is back at his lathe now, and hopefully will start making Nova Cues again.
