Inlay dots

How thick should an inlay dot be? Got some dots .125 x .030 thick I wanted to try, these are stainless steel. Thanks
 
Those are a little thin. I would put them in at finished size. You will not be able to take a finished pass on the cue afterwards. You need to sand the inlays to the cue. Also when you cut the inlays in make sure that there is no run out in the cue or set your tool height to every index position. You want the part to be just proud of the surface of the cue. Good luck.
