Install a phenolic tip on an old viking?

I’ve been breaking 8-ball racks second ball with a heavy viking and a triangle tip for years. I think I want to start hard breaking the head ball. Can I just have a phenolic tip/ferrule installed on my old viking? Is that going to get me the action I want, or do I need to breakdown and buy a purpose built breaker? (This may be the wrong thread, but I was hoping that a cue maker has had experience installing and maybe even playing with this setup.)

I put a phenolic tip on my old Viking for breaking a couple of years ago and it seems to perform well enough. I use it both for head ball and second ball breaks.

Did you put the new tip on the old ferrule or did you replace the ferrule as well? Any thoughts on tip/ferrule brands?
