Installing a jump joint

I have a break cue that I like, but would like to add a jump joint to it. I'd like to keep the weight added to a minimum; what type of joint setup would be best suited for this? Also, what should I expect in terms of pricing? Thanks in advance.

Depends on a lot of things. What type of cue is it? Does it have a wrap? Is it a sneaky pete? You need to give more info. To keep it light go with an aluminum 3/8-10. If its a no wrap sneaky it would be the most simple. Cut it, add pin, add collars, reclear...I'd charge $100. If its a cue with a wrap, and/or a bolt connecting handle to forearm...then you run into other issues. More info please...

It's a purpleheart no wrap sneaky pete. Would it still need a reclear if the collars aren't installed? Or are the collars needed for structural integrity? And if an aluminum 3/8 pin is used, approximately how much weight will be added? Appreciate the response.

You definately want a collar on the female part of the joint or you'll run the risk of busting it. Less than 1/2 oz weight added. And for a quality job...you'll want the clear blended over the new joint.

When you cut it in half you will lose some length. Then when you put the two back together there will be a little bit of a shoulder, or step. The shoulder can be eliminated by adding collars.
