Installing tip on Cuetech

I did a search already, but there's a million responses. So...

Is it just me, or does anyone else have problems with tips sticking to Cuetech ferrules?

I prime the back of the tip with thin CA. I use Loctite Ultra Control Gel. I give the glue ample time to fully cure. I avoid heat build up when trimming, sanding and burnishing. Etc.

I'm assuming the CA just can't fully bond to the soft Cuetech ferrules.

Any suggestions?

Yup. I prime both the tip and ferrule, spray both with accelerator, and scuff off the high points. I just always have problems with Cuetechs. No other cues, ferrules, or tips. Just those dang Cuetechs. Oh well.

Thanks!

I have had problems with the ferrules on less expensive cues as well. Cuetec, Athena, Players.

I scuff the tip with 60 grit and cross-hatch both the tip and ferrule, then I use epoxy on them and it seems to hold better - or simply replace the ferrule with a material of my liking and at my cost - the end cost is less than an unhappy customer out there badmouthing me.

The other exacerbating part is that some players will get a new cue and decide to use their old cheap cue as a break cue - compounds the problem.

YMMV
