Instroke Advice

I'm looking to buy an Instroke cue.

Two models fall within my price range: Geo and Vinyl Cowboy Series (I'm not interested in the Premium line).

Can anyone speak to how these two products compare? Is the recycled leather of the Geo quality? How does the vinyl covering match up?

An ebay vendor told me that the V. Cowboy is nicer than the geo; can this be true?

Many thanks for sharing the wisdom.

Think Porper

I understand what ever Model Instroke you BUY, the INSIDES ARE THE SAME.

Personally if I was buying Vinyl, I get a Porper because of their Wonderful WARRANTY. Made in the USA, Serviced in Northridge CA.

Mueller sell em, Porper that is... at Fair Prices... www.poolndarts.com.... :D

If you got to have an Instroke, don't get a Instroke CLONE.....

Geo

I have the all black geo and it is a good case. good tubes and the leather does not appear to be substandard. my only complaint is the "handle" at the top of the lid. i think i read somewhere that it is not be used to carry the case around or something like that. anyway, my "handle" broke off at the point where it meets the lid right at the rivets.

i bought mine from seyberts.com - they have great prices and free shipping. billiardwarehouse is also recommended.

if i had to do it all over again i would probably get the vinyl premier case with the 3/7 config instead of the geo with the 3/5

?

So is your main beef with the Geo the malfunction of the top handle?

I am looking to buy a case with some color, so I was naturally attracted to the Geo as fitting both my price requirements as well as offering a color selection (yellow, green, blue, burgundy). The Premier series and vinyl cowboy only offer black - at least that I what I have found online.

Does the recycled leather seem artificial?

Keep in mind that "recycled leather" is most likely floor sweepings compressed with a binder. Think of it as the "particle-board" of leather. This is most likely why the handle broke, as I would think the tensile strength of recycled leather would be low. Given your choices, go for the Instroke.

One last thing - you have 'til tomorrow to avail yourself of the Jim M deal on a real leather case at a bargain price.

Handle

The leather is fine and it does not appear to be fake leather. it is a nice leather case at that price point. the strap is kind cheap and stiff as well and it frayed some on the edges- probably all cases. the strap seems a bit narrow. I would say the main thing is the handle. it only broke on one side and so it flaps around like a loose tooth. i bought it new late last year or early this year.

if you want an instroke go to erikleecues.com and check out his prices. he has a 3/6 for 260 or so and that is an excellent deal for the money.

I am thinking about getting a Murnak 3/6 but only one person posted a review. tough call because a new whitten is 435- just 100 more. tough call because it is like buying something completely blind.

I highly recommend the Vinyl Premier from Instroke over the Geo; cheaper and looks alot better imho.
