Very well written- well chosen words Scott.
I followed these (ofte not really nice) very interesting discussions about CTE/ and pro-1 and 90/90. Someday i had a longer talk via Skype with John Barton- was quite interesting. Later then talked more and more with Dave Segal- really a class act this guy! I enjoyed it so much to listen to him- he s really an expert about cte or pivot-based systems.
After that i got somehow lost bc of work etc.- and then i started to work a bit with the See-System- which also is a very good and well worked out system. (but nothing to do with CTE !!)- reall nice work from the developer Ekkes Schneider-Lombard1
At some point i started to watch every single thing from Stan Shuffett. and latley started to give it a seroius try- and im very impressed for that little amount of time i was able to spend with it (unfortunatley).
I had unexpected great results with it. The biggest hurdle is to *reset your mind* if oyu learnt it the old-school way.
But it s alwas the same- if you want to learn something new, you have to emtpy our cup of tea first
I stay away from teaching it (cte based systems or pro-1), because im still (in my opinion) a beginner.
But except this system i always give a student several options as aiming systems- and he has to make his choice- noone is like the other- every is individual. And no matter what aiming system we are using:
Perception is EVERYTHING. First of course it s about to develope a repeatable stroke-process (i best case straight, lol!).
But to build your stance around the cue perfectly has also to do with getting your head into the right position- so that the player is able to *see the striking line*- better said- to let *him land on the striking line*.
sry for gettin a bit off topic-
kind regards from overseas.
Ingo
