interesting 8ball situation

if an object ball comes off the table during the break shot is that ball in hand behind the head string? Playing modified BCA rules where a scratch on the break is ball in hand behind the head string (all other rules are the same as BCA). Can it be played where it lies? Is it up to the incoming player?

WPA rules state that the incoming player has the option of accepting the table in position or taking ball in hand behind the head string. All balls driven off the table remain out of play except the eight ball which is re-spotted.

I thought the only time ball in hand came into play was if the cue ball itself came off the table. I thought if an object ball left the table it was not ball in hand, just loss of turn.

Ball hit off table is a foul in most rules, league and whatever other rules they chose to use vary of-course.

A while back knocking a ball off the table was not a ball in hand foul, and I think if you made your object ball it may not have even been loss or turn. I remember Grady saying something about that he thought having a ball knocked off a table not being a foul degraded the integrity of the game.
