Internal Extension w/ unilock

I'm posting this for my friend, Medalist as he can't post pictures. His playing cue is a Chris Byrnes modified by Ernie Martinez. Shaft is an OB1. Recently Ernie built him an internal cue extension to reach long shots. Usually, the extension is put on the extra shaft and can quickly be swapped during play.

I have made one for myself one time but not quite as long as this one. It seems this one could be used as a jump cue handle also which is pretty sweet.

Skier,

Don't mean to be picky. I'd call your friends extension external, not internal. I've attached a photo of my Schon with a Brandon Jacoby installed internal extension.

Internal as it fits between the shaft and butt vs attaching to the end of the butt. yes it works as a jump handle too.

The Jacoby is truly internal though, its slick.

if you were playing BCA and you went to install that would you not forfeit the match?

hey bro can you pm me about how to go about getting that done to my cue? what'd it cost?

ahh the wording has been changed since I last looked at my old handbook.
This is from the current book.

1.11 Concession
If a player concedes, he loses the match. For example, if a player unscrews his jointed playing
cue stick while the opponent is at the table and during the opponent’s decisive rack of a
match, it will be considered a concession of the match.

my understanding

My understanding if you declare a change or you are installing the extension you would be OK. I first saw these at the Southern Classic. I believe Shannon Dalton had one and possibly Brandon Shuff. Seybert's has them with different joint types.

Questions:
1) How much weight does it add?
2) How does it affect the balance?
3) What would be the optimal length?
4) What about a combination of the 2 designs. Have it connect in the middle and you turn and adjust the length.
5) If a shot clock is in place how would you get it changed in time compared to one that goes on the but of the cue?

Its 12 inches and 3.5 oz The balance is amazing like it was built that way. I mount my extra shaft to it and just switch to that when I need it. Its a unilock joint so changing isnt too big a deal. It certainly gets a lot of looks.
