IPT - Just got off the phone with a friend playing in the Qualifier in california. He said Kevin T. is giving away 1000 anytime somebody bank in the 8 ball on any rack.! Wow. That would be alot of money giving away.

This should be interesting what people would decide to do, especially on close matches. Also, from the article, KT is supposedly there as well.

A couple of buddies could agree to play even to 5 all playing only banks, picking up 10k each and the playing the rest for the match.
Or something along those lines.
Or is it that only the match winner can collect?

Around here, the better players almost never bank the 8-ball. This is because they can leave position for an easy straight or cut shot on the 8.
And you will not usually see them with just the 8 left on the table. They will try to leave 3 balls on the table until they can run out. And this is how they get good position on the 8.
As I get better at position play, I try to do the same. I look at cut shots as being much higher percentage than bank shots. And I have a rule I follow - "Always cut if possible instead of banking".

$1000 bonus for banking 8.....
I just read where some of these morons playing in the Hard Times IPT qualifier were making deals to bank the 8 in yesterdays matches to split the bonus money that KT was offering. This is unfrickenbelievable. All of these idiots are playing to get in the most lucrative tour that they will ever see and they are bringing their treachery into it for a couple of thousand dollars. Personally I would boot their asses out of the qualifier and any future IPT events. This is why pool will never succeed as a mainline sport. The old saying that one bad apple ruins the lot certainly applies here except there are a lot more bad apples than good ones unfortunately.
