your not the best until you beat everyone...PLAY IT ON BAR BOXES!!...this is what people want to see now on TV!!...fast paced 8 ball or 9 ball...run out after run out...quick games...i'd watch that all the time...get rid of 9 footers on TV...sure it good once in a while...but its starting to be like slow old snooker...nobody wants to watch that anymore

Absolutely. 9-ball is way too slow. Why stop at 9-ball on bar boxes? Let's make it three ball, race to three, winner breaks. That should speed things up enough for you!

7 footers and 8 footers will bring in more players...8 ball or 9 ball...everyone's good on the bar box...they'll be lined up to join qualifying tournaments by the thousands

Or we could just forget the game and have break contests!

Still laughing ......... 9' "Billiard" table..... Keep your quarter eater with 7" pockets in the bar....

Hmm... I actually think players find it easier (and % wise would do it more often) to run out on a 9' table then on a 7' table. 7' tables have way more congestion, balls that are tied up and spots where you can only make a ball in a single pocket. 9' table, doesn't have nearly as many problems. There is a real art to breaking out balls on the 7' table that you don't need on 9 footers.

Don't worry......you are going to see LOTS of first visit to the table run outs in IPT events, possibly an average in the region of 1 frame out of every 3/4 frames played ;)

Many enjoy playing bar box and for good reason; it makes it is less intimidating from the beginning to middle player. I too played in a barbox league for a very short time. The problem is it's more difficult to weed out the super greats from the greats from the very good players. I can remember several games were a B or C rated player broke an ran. I can also remember many B players trying to safety their games to a win and this is not very exiting for most to watch.

9 ft requires better shot making and better CB control. The IPT has tighter pockets and a cloth that demands a better stroke. (even though this has nothing to do with IPT)

I do think it might be interesting to see some amateur 8 ball on barboxes on TV. Remember those that have played pool before habe played on barboxes and see the difficulty in longer shots on a 9 ft. They see position as more spectacular.

Again, amateur barbox on TV might work.

I find the congestion an advantage as these balls are stops for position at times and it requires less cb movement to break up clusters. The weaker player has an advantage to play better safes.

I think this is why so many go to national BCA tournaments because they are barboxes and many feel they have a chance. So I can understand your excitement.

Hey..... theres an idea. We can get Keith to tell people how he likes to have a few before a match and then watch him steamroll over a bunch of bar playing amatures on bar boxes....... yeah.... thats the ticket....... :D

FWIW. I can't speak for the rest of the people here, but IF the IPT were on the bar tables, they would get my money in the quaifiers for sure. At least that way I would feel like I had some, however minute, chance of qualifying.

I remember hearing that Willie Mosconi said, upon seeing a bar box, "its got 16 balls and 6 pockets, but it isn't pool."

I tend to agree. To be honest I would be elated if they brought back the 5x10's.

For what it's worth, if it's the average player you are referring to, in my experiance they don't even realize there is a difference between the table they play on. For example one of the places I play has something like five 8 footers and three 9'ers, there are plenty of people who don't realize that they are different sizes.
