Hi members,
Is there any advantage of having Irish linen or leather wrap on the butt section of the cue? Are the cues with linen or wrap better than those without any?

No. It's a personal preference thing. Some prefer linen, or leather, or no wrap at all. Just try all kinds and decide which you prefer.

Thanks for your reply edep12. The cue i use has no linen or wrap at all. just curious to know why many players use cues with wrap / linen. Many pro pool players use these cues too. Thanks anyway.

I prefer leather myself, not a fan of linen, would rather have no wrap over the linen.

A very nice looking Predator cue in this pic. It's true personally I found the cue without a wrap or linen has better feel when hitting the ball & also takes less time for maintenance. But wonder if the leather wrap would need to be changed when used after a while like Irish linen? Thank you all for your input.

I have a Fanelli that's 10+ years old and the leather wrap looks brand new and still in perfect condition. I personally think it outlasts any linen wrap.

i like linen best
i like wrapless and leather too

i don't like clammy or sticky
prefer slick hard

wrap it

each grip option different frictional properties for more specific check out jack koehler's, " the science of pocket billiards." grip would seem to matter hitting a 100 mph fast ball or hammering a nail, but for hitting a cue ball a few feet think frctional characteristics to be splitting hairs. esthetically speaking the better cue stick would be the no wrap as the removal of wraps transforms wonderful cue sticks into miserable wretches.
