Irish linen on a production cue?

I'm getting a new OB cue. I'm not sure whether I want Irish linen or not. I was thinking of getting one without the linen and then putting it on after If i decided I wanted it. Is this possible? Would I be able to take it off after without damaging the cue?

I'm new to this forum so I hope this question is in the right section. Thanks.

You could get a linen wrap put on afterwords, but in order to do so you have to cut the cue down slightly so the wrap will be flush with the finish. As far as removing, that is not possible without a cuesmith changing the handle for you or replacing it with leather or some other wrap.

You can start off with a wrapless cue and then add a wrap by cutting a groove/channel into the handle for the irish linen. However, once you've cut a wrap groove, you've got to fill it with some kind of wrap.
Here's a video showing a wrapless cue being cut for a linen wrap. Schmelke Cue- adding a linen wrap

Thanks for the replies and the video. It was very interesting. I guess I'll get it without the wrap and see how I like it. Thanks again guys!
