Irish verses Hurlbert Linen for wraps

I've never seen any of these double wraps, does anyone have pictures of some?

I just took a piece of scrap and did a quick wrap. Don't pay any attention to the colors I used, ( This is white with black speck and solid black. It looks better in person then this picture by the way) it is just to show how it looks. You can use lots of different combinations. A neat one is to use the same main color but different specks colors such as red and blue. People look at it wondering how you did that.

You know, that's pretty expensive if you think about it. It takes about 1/2 ounce to do a cue. That makes it $160.00 per pound compared to around $45.00 a pound. If you just invest in the basic most popular colors you would be better off. Even if you buy some of the weird colors you'll use them eventually and the first wrap almost pays for it all.

Yeah Your right there Macguy, the most basic is what I would buy in full roll, but I do pick up the singles for samples on colors I am not sure about. I don't keep all of them, just some. I do the pickup & deliver type thing still, so the samples are nice to carry in my cue case for those who are interested in the non basic colors also. Gives them an idea of what the color is. Eventually I will set up a sample rod with different colors from the left overs for that, that is already pressed as to show the finished look. It can get expensive If someone was to carry every color.

Speaking on odd colors I do have a good size roll of some decent quality purple linen I have not used at all. What goes good with purple ? I thought maybe something with this purple heart I have here in It, would somewhat match, but don't know how much contrast I can put between the two colors to even them out. Wonder if I just used the purple heart in the rings with another color if It would have enough. Anyway like you mentioned I will find a use for It too. Starting to get some female interest now, so maybe one of them will like this color .

That does look good Mac. Is it hard to keep them from tangling together? It would make a lot more combinations of color possible. Thanks for showing it.

Yeah. I think that is a good suggestion. For some reason I thought the single spools were more than that. Can always use it for kite twine right?

Excuse me for the interuption...
I have tried to wrap the liner on a cue, by hand.
The result is not that great, I do not have any machine to help me.
I only do this for fun, Anyway.. is there a way to press the liner to very nice feeling smoothness ? yes by hand again....
