Iron Earl Tyson

I just heard the announcers call Earl colorful. Maybe because this guy is nothing but a red-ass. He is definitely the Mike Tyson of pool. Washed up, a basket case who lets their own mental shortcomings short-change their once tremendous talent. Take a handful of Xanax, you douche-bag. You are the most recognizable name in the sport and you are a disgrace. Take a look over at poor Steve Mizerak who would give anything to play. You are an embarassment to your sport and your trailer park. I want a refund, Brady.

RC,
I, for one, would greatly prefer a more civil discourse than the one you started. While I have my own opinions on certain sportsmanship issues, I would never resort to name-calling. Do you realize that Earl the Pearl lurks here and occasionally posts here???? Whatever your opinion, would you insult someone in that manner to their face? Forget about potential physical retribution; ITS JUST NOT POLITE!!!

Yes, he is a public figure and a great player; and yes he is often the subject of discussion and controversy; but he deserves all due courtesy. Wouldn't you rather get his opinion on the subject rather than mine. Perhaps there is more to his actions than meets the eye - I would certainly give him the benefit of the doubt, and not resort to cheap insults. We are in a tremendous position to share the thoughts and insights of the pro's who excel at a game we love. Posts such as yours only inhibit such discourse, and rob us of opportunities to interact with the greats. You don't have to agree and admire someone to learn from them - but you do need to be polite. A gracious person would apologize for the personal attack.

W,,,,,,,despite the language, earl is getting in message board text what he dishes out "on the playing field". the courtesy you ask for him, he seems to forget in the pool arena. what goes around comes around. people would speak of him and his shortcomings more graciously were he a gentleman who deserved better consideration

Every sport has it's "Bad Boy". Personally, I would still rather see Earl than anyone else on TV just to see what he will do next. JMHO

Well ....

Andre Agassi was a bad boy of tennis, but he grew up,
realized what is important in life, has humility and is
somewhat gracious in his comments about the sport
and his opponents.

Earl just needs to grow up, and realize that is not the
best player in the world anymore, and to have some
manners.

Andre is a spec when compared to the tennis resident bad boy's Jimmy Conners or Johnny Mac.

But I respect Earl, and think he's a tremendous player. It bothers me to see that so many people feel his "lack of restraint" overshadows his pool ability. No matter what, the guy is pure talent.
