I have a Durbin with an ivory joint and G10 pin, I happen to think it is an excellent playing cue. The hit is very solid but not stiff, at least to me. To be sure, there's substantially more to how a cue plays than the joint. I remember reading here about an experiment performed at a tournament where they taped the joints so the testers couldn't tell what the joint was. Apparently very few picked the joint of the cue they hit simply by the feel. I personally think the tip and the shaft have a lot more to do with the feel of the hit than the joint.
