Is billiards the toughest sport?

Let end this discussion now.
Anyone who thinks pool is not more difficult than golf has
simply never played a high stakes match with Ronnie Allen
or "Fats". Having done both, (many times)let me say this.
If Tiger Woods were to play a round with these two guys
he would be lucky to break 100. And thats a FACT!!!!!!!

Fats and Allen would have to keep their mouth's shut in golf. So your argument isn't real

Fat's(RIP) and Ronnie CANNOT keep their mouth's shut.
Fat's is still talking and he's been gone several years!!
PS One should never, in an argument, mispell "retarded".
Peace brother, you're still my avatar hero!!!!!

.....I have seen golfers miss 10 greens in a four day tournament and still win it.

I have seen Pool Players miss two shots in 3 days and finish 4th.....

Earlier today I watched a man that I have played golf with more than once out here, Henrik Stenson, shoot an almost flawless round of 65
(-7) in the fourth and final round of this weeks European PGA Tour event in Qatar, overtaking everyone who was ahead of him after 3 rounds, only to incredibly still lose by 3 shots to a man who started the 4th round behind him (Adam Scott who shot an 11 under 61, hitting all 18 greens in regulation, even missing a two foot put for a 60):o

Let's just love the sports/games for what they are. There is no definitively correct answer to the question asked in the thread opener (although given the large number of different sports to consider, purely on probability it is much more likely that the answer is "no" than "yes").....if there is to be a definitively correct answer out there to any question of this nature you would of course first need the very basic starting point of some properly framed and clear terms of reference, to even attempt to measure the sports concerned:)

Try Lee Trevino

I guarantee he can talk with the best of them. When the golfers are on the side playing for cash they talk too. When was the last time you saw any of the pool pros shoot their mouth off at the us open or any other big tournament(unless they was playing in the cash room)?

Just to throw my $0.02 in. I first think of Darts, Pool, and Golf, Bowling as games rather then sports. Despite the fact that I have played all of them, I just can't get my mind over the fact that 90% of the top Regional players in these games are not exactly what anyone would consider an athlete.

Anyway, with that said, the MMA .. wow.. can the body go threw any more then that? OK, then how about the Marathon Runners? Can anyone compete with them running? How about Michael Jordon and basketball? wouldn't that be the best athlete?

Straight Toughest sport.. I wish this was a poll:
- Billiards
- Golf
- MMA
- Hockey
- Soccer
- Football
- Baseball
- Basketball
- Boxing
- Tennis
- Marathon Runners
- Cycling
- Darts
- Lawn Bowling
- WWE

Why are we having this conversation again?

I think MMA is the toughest..!!
It takes years to gain the Knowlage and skill just to compete most of us could never get into the Octagon!

Purely my opinion as someone who has played 'em all, I'm closer to being able to beat Archer a few games that beating Woods a few holes, or returning one of Federer's serves. To rise to the top of any sport demands dedication plus natural ability, but pool has come easier to this moderately talented enthusiast.

Really!!

Admitting that you are "moderately talented" is commendable. Now try
to rise to the level of an Efren Reyes or Johnny Archerand see how easy
that is !!!!

I was just going to post this. Glad you did. MMA is WAY more demanding than boxing. Far more intricate. More facets, higher level of whole-body action.

surprised snowboarding wasnt even listed on the ESPN thing. Maybe they just lump that in with skiing...but then again those kids sure make it look easy.

my opinion re: pool vs golf: golf's far more intricate therefore difficult, but I am a terminal intermediate at both.
