ok, so i don't know all the names in pool, especially the local ones, but,,,,does the second bracket seem topheavy with names compared to the other?

and how come we have 3 filipinos in one group. including busta and efren? how is the tournament seeded, or is it?

and where's stalev? he wasn't at masters in queens either.

Actually, its 4 filipinos in that one group. Santos Sambajon is in there as well.

Funny how those things seem to always happen.

I agree. This should never happen - especially when you consider Busty and Efren in the same group....thats crazy...In any seeded event they should be on opposite sides of the bracket completely...but thats just MHO.

I don't know if you can still call it coincidence, but this has been happening much too often!

Come on folks, I'm starting to hear conspiracy theorys here. That is one of the beauties of a non-UPA tournament. Try playing the Joss sometime. It happens all the time. Besides, why should spectators, who pay their good money, not be treated to some great matches on Wednesday rather than Sunday at 8:00 PM! One of the last tournaments had Alex Lely vrs. Niels Feigen. The winner/loser (I forgot which) got to play Nick van de Berg. It happens.

well, i don't know. busta and efren seem to meet each other much too early for my taste. if tournaments are not seeded, they should be. to answer cardiac,,,seeded tournaments are better for exciting matches because, past the first round, you will get less of joe blow versus earl strickland. lopsided brackets means no one will watch the other half.

on the bright side, lopsided brackets means you get to watch all your faves on the two tables in front of you.:)

I think it's 5 Filipinos in that bracket including Danny Petralba. Maybe, that bracket is sub-titled "2003 Philippine Open".

the only flips that ain't here i think are Parica and Pgulayan in that bracket...but wutever if it happens it happens...no need to bitch about it

Hi bruin70,

I guess I must be in the minority on the seeding thing. I want to play Earl in the first round. Earl just doesn't want to play Efren. Earl wants to play me. Perhaps he might take me lightly. Others have. If Earl won 11 - 0, then you would be right. If Earl won 11 - 10 then you would have missed a good match. If Earl looses 11 - 10, then it's a headline on AZ Billiards and again, you missed a great match. Seeding only continues the status quo. Let the best battle it out whenever they meet.

I have always felt that one of the reasons we play pool "professionally" is to entertain the paying spectators. Thats what pro golfers. pro bowlers, etc. do. Perhaps one of the reasons pool has never succeeded is very few people look at the game that way. Players are entertainers! If the players don't care about the spectators, why should they care about us! I hear its the promoters responsibility to fill the stands. That is true to a point. If no one wants to come watch a match on the first day of a tournament because its all the OJT'ers playing (thanks Gremlin), then one days potential gate is lost. How many days gate receipts can a promoter stand to loose and still be profitable. Yes, they have to make a profit too! Who are the most popular players? Earl, Keith, Alex.. One of the things they do well is work the crowd. Some may not like it but, they ARE entertainers.
