All that should really matter is that he is a professional pool player and can beat anyone is the world at a given time. Have you guys never watched T.V. before and are surprised about them stretching the facts?
I understand the op's thoughts on the matter. At least it wasn't Max saying that he is in the top 3 in the world. In the pool world, it does seem that players are sometimes classified by their highest rating at a given time, e.g. Danny B. was the #1 ranked player on the tour or CJ Wiley being the ESPN World Champion and #1 player.
