Is it legal to mark rails with chalk for kicking?

Is there anything in the rules regarding the number and spacing of diamonds on a table?

Standard equipment rules?

I forgot we deal with a lot of 9' elitist here whom believe only the rules and equipment they have come to accept are acceptable because that is what they want.

Is it legal to measure a gap with your cue and a finger or just your fingers? I have always wondered about this. I do not remember seeing anything regarding this specifically in the BCA rule book.

I'm not sure what you're getting at, but I'm watching the video, looking at the diamonds, and thinking, since just about every table made in the last 100+ years has them, visual rail references have become an inherent part of the game.

Why call it a foul, if, technically, there's no rule saying that the table can't be manufactured in a way that provides visual reference points in an almost infinite number of positions along the rail?
