Is It Time to Get New Cushions?

The cushions I have are original - and 15 years old. They do still have some life, but they don'y play nearly as fast as any of the tables at any pool hall I've been to lately. I'd say they are between 80-85% of new cushions.

I put on Simonis 860 last week, and am on the fence regarding getting new rubber. I can't decide if it's a good idea to go from "ok" to "new" conditions.

Anyone have thoughts/experience in this area?

JMO - if you are not satisfied with the cushions then replace them. Call it an upgrade for improved playability.

You should hit a ball firm with center ball from the head spot through the foot spot. It should travel a minimum of 4 rails. If you have the mecanic put on new cushions make sure the cushion hieght is correct, a 1/16 of an inch can make a difference. Check the nose of the cushion some tables come with the cushion high around 1 1/2 inches if you put new cushions on a the same spot it won't play any better.
