is kevin cheng overrated

From reading the posts, I can only ask how much was the prize money for the to tourneys he 2 stepped? Is it possible he is only motivated by the prize money?

I know when I would gamble for 20-50 dollar sets, I played at a certain level. Then when the bet got up there, it was a different story! Just ask in:)

The Gotham City Pro Classic paid $7,500 for first. The Steinway Classic advertised $10,000 for first. In the pool world, that's pretty good for 2 or 3 day events.

Edit -- Oops, I see someone else already provided the answer.

Anyone knows who beat him in those 2 events?

I know Cheng lost to Big Ko at Steinway.

Kevin Cheng

Plays jam up, and if you don't think so, put your $$$$$$$ where your Mouth is!

Yes, At Steinway Cheng went -- Bye, loss to Ko Pin-Yi, loss to Marco Teutscher.

For Gotham, I don't know.

That alone speaks volumes for the guy, as I consider Wu the best player on the planet. Heck, if Corey Deuel can win the US Open, why not Cheng?
If Corey can win one lol. He was pretty sporty back then

One good year does not cancel the mediocrity of his entire career. Peach has won a WC, should I try to sell him as a great champion?

Ya you should because he was at that time ,, why do you think his name always comes up in MC teams , or conversations about being innovative ,, the only one who kept Corey from winning a whole Lot more was Corey

The sports book betting service had Cheng at 33/1 odds in US Open seems like they might have underrated him a bit :shocked2:

And anyone who thinks otherwise is sadly mistaken!

If Corey had the work ethic of Shane, Corey(IMHO) would of been the next efren!

Not to take anything away from Corey here, but he didn't try hard enough!

And honestly, I don't blame him or anyone. Maybe things would be different if the pool world was much more enticing($$$)!

My favorite player is Alex P. and if Corey gave it his all he would have Alex on a string! Kinda like the SVB and MD thing! MD may beat SVB here and there but SVB can lay a nasty game on MD!

Corey just sees things!

That is very unfair to Sam Lambert. Didn't you read his blog?? He has only been playing for 3.5 months. Sam only beats the 4 ball ghost, now, after 3.5 months.

Wait till Sam has 13.5 months in. He should be 4 times as good as he is now, he's THAT talented.

Dude wins a JB case after only 3 months o the forum.... he's THAT strong!

Btw...Is this the same "Sean" Cheng that took 2nd in the 2012 BCA national tournament OPEN division!!

Yes it is.
That is the year the 2 Taiwan guys got 1st and 2nd and did not get the money after the event. They forfeited them and redistributed the money that year after it was over.
