Is my GC IV setup correctly?

Im admittedly naive when it comes to table setup and was viewing a few post that got me to wonder about my home table. I recently purchased a GCIV and was wondering what you guys thought about the wrapping of the rails. Any input would be great. Thanks.

I am not a Mech. But I have seen worse and I have seen much better. Does it play weird?

.

I noticed the same thing on my table with the side pockets. After seeing the APA table thread I saw it. The funny thing is I've had the table for 7 years and never noticed it.

Yeah the same thread got my intrest sparked and took a look at my table. Im not exactly sure how the side pockets are supposed to be done, but I know that some of the experts on here know excactly how to do it correctly. It doesnt play weird but the slate did jump on the table shortly after having it installed. I wasnt overly impressed with the attitudes of the mech and didnt spend much time on the leveling of the table after they fixed the slate issue. Luckily the GC is very easy to level with the design if the feet.

Here are some clearer pics

Honestly....?

How's it sound when your balls come off the rail?
Just looking at the picture, I'm going to guess that as you run your fingers along the nose on your cushions you're going to be feeling a kind of "wavy motion".
Is there space under all of your rails or just this side?
Side pocket folds are too thick, so it's got your rail off the bed a bit, they could have tightened up the folds a bit better, and not stretched down the face of your cushion where they were stapling.
Looks like 90% of the tables out there. (shrug)
How did they do on the bed and pockets?
Did they level with a carpenters level or a machinist level?

But the most important thing is..... does it play well?

The rails are have a good sound but there is a slight wave in some areas. The gap is pretty much the same around the whole table where the rails meet the bed. The bed is streched tight and I dont have any complaints in that area but was wondering about how they did the pockets. The whole process seemed just kinda haphazard. I put it off as saying "Well this is what they do for a living and they have their process, so let them do there job". Im not sure the diff between a carpenters level and machinist but I do remember thinking that their level looks just like the one I have hanging at my workbench. I guess in hindsight that should have been a red flag but as I stated earlier this is the first table I have purchased and am very naive about the mechanics of assembly. The pockets are also not as "tight" as I would have liked since the GC is supposed to be the top of the line for Brunswick. There are 4 7/8 tip to tip. Are things something that I should complain about or just have to deal with?

You have been "Hacked" The castings can be closer to flush the folds at the side pockets are ruff or wrong and I want even speak of the bed cloth in the pockets. What city are you in I'm sure we AZB can reccomend someone in your area. And get a restraining order placed on the hack.

Im located about 20 miles outside of Charlotte, NC.

I had my table moved and setup by Danny of Danny Boys Billiard Service (he does all around the Charlotte area). He did a great job on the move and setup. Spent a great deal of time getting the table leveled properly (and yes he used a machinist's level). There are a few issues with the table, but none of it was his fault, and he actually helped lower the impact of a few of them (the issues being cloth on rails was too lose and there is some unevenly stretched parts of the bed cloth, but this was also the 3rd time that bed cloth had been put on the table). Reason I didn't have new cloth put on is I'm going to be extending the subrails this fall/winter once it's no longer 90F outside. His prices are very good as well, charged me only $250 to take down, move, and setup my 9' Gandy.

Danny's number is 704-458-7807

No I havent done anything yet but Im guessing I should wait till its time to have the table recovered to have the work done, dont you think? Im not real sure how much trouble it would be to tighten the pockets and fix the other problems but I'll definitly have you look at it. What do you think about when I should have it done? Could you just come out and take a look and give me your professional opinion?

That would be up to you. If you have a lot of life left in your cloth and you can live with the cosmetics, then yes, wait. If it bothers you like it would some, then have it corrected. I can sure stop by and take a look at it. Shoot me an email service@thetablepro.com and when I book a job in your area, I will let you know.
