Is my table not even or is my slate f***ed up?

Slate does bend...see pic here of Glen Hancock using a bottle jack to get the bow out if the 'slate'.
Once straightened, he then super-glued it via the old playing card trick (although I think he used a business card, as playing cards dont wick very well).
I used 'slate' in quotes, because if it is really a GC1, it may be Brunstone, and not slate. Very brittle, and prone to breakage if torqued on too much.

It amazes me how quickly these threads derail.


First step is to call the installer. He should be able to make improvements. It's important to remember that slate will flex, especially from the effects of gravity. If the table is installed on anything other than concrete, it's possible that the floor shifted, causing the frame to twist. It's also possible that the table can not be completely corrected, without removing the cloth. However, I would guess that the installer should be able to make enough adjustment that you will be reasonably satisfied with the outcome.

Keep us posted on the culprit and outcome. This is one of my fears of purchasing a used table. I sure hope it works out well for you in the end

Depending on the skillset of the installer, you could have the same issues, or worse, with a new table. A good installer makes all the difference. Sometimes, these old Gold Crowns just need a bit of extra care.
