<did a search on this and did not find anything related to team fargo handicap>
Wanted to post a longer title of: Is our team 8 ball BCA / FargoRate handicap system typical / reasonable and how does it translate to adjusting individual Fargo ratings?
Our BCA 8 ball team played all 5 players last night (with team adjusted FRs of 8, 8, 7, 7, 6) against a team of 4 players (with team adjusted FRs of 7, 5, 5, 2). Our team league's Fargo to Rating adjustment table is posted below. I am an 8 and played 2 games, our 6 played the other 2 games, rest of the players played all 4 games. We had to give the lower ranted team the following ball points adjustment for each of the 4 frames: 11, 11, 9, 9 for an average of 10 points a frame. We won 15 of the 20 games with a total of 144 points vs their 5 wins and unadjusted point total of 110. We lost the match 144 to 150 adjusted. We would have tied if we won one more game (80% win percentage) and we would have won if we got two more games (85% win percentage), given we did have two of our players scratch on 8 balls.
Is the tight grouping of the Fargo to Rating adjustment table below between 200 level Fargo (rating of 2) and 449 level of Fargo (rating of 6) plus the even tighter grouping between rating of 2 and rating of 4, is this typical for handicapped BCA FargoRate 8 Ball team leagues? It seems to favor the lower overall rated teams in an unbalanced fashion by pretty much requiring the much stronger team to play safeties much more often.
Also, and what I am most curious about is, how do these overall team handicapped matches translate to making adjustments on individual player's FargoRate? How do lower players move up if they don't win individual game but their adjusted score might give their team a frame / overall match win? Why does the actual ball count and total game score not get recorded (in our case the two 8 ball scratches should have been scored 7/7, 7/7 for our players and 5/10, 0/10 for theirs)?
One more thing, our match score for the first four weeks is 2 wins, 1 tie and 1 loss.
