Is poker killing gambling in pool?

They certainly do, but try explaining that to some of the room owners out there. They think their establishment should be about pool and pool only, then they wonder why their out of business within a year of opening:rolleyes:

I think the bottom line here is that people think they have a better chance to win at poker and they can sit on their butts doing it....to much effort to play pool.....

The problem is that the poker has been taken out of the back room of pool rooms.

When the day comes that internet poker is available and legal in pool rooms, more players will be back. It gets very boring playing internet poker at home.

I would much rather go to the pool room and play on line poker until a pool game becomes available.

EDIT: Wireless connection is getting very cheap. A mini computer the size of a PSP that had wireless capabilites would not take much at this day and age...I would venture that if a pool room were able to provide the wireless connection...(which they can already) you could have a device that would fit in your pool case that you could use to link up and play on line poker..

I wonder if something like this is right around the corner???

I said I already have that to combat. Didn't cost a thing. Did it through my internet jukebox. Next is an online tournament which would not necessarily be prosecutable yet. I have 3 or 4 people who occasionally play at the pool room now.

the local 8 ball tournament is where my poker game began. every friday night people kept asking me when my poker game was going to start up. after a couple of weeks i had a full 8 man regular game. it lasted all night

now that im playing more pool im seeing people that will bet on poker, but wont play 5 dollar pool. i believe ill start that poker game up again.

o yeah,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,hell yes poker is killing gambling on pool. anyone interested in a poker game ?

Poker is definitely killing pool. I used to go to a bar at least twice a month for the Friday night weekly pool tournament. Now they got rid of the pool tournament and play poker instead. I've even have league teams not come make up games they missed because the only night we were available was on their "poker night". Go figure. Maybe poker will die out like any other fad does eventually. I keep telling myself that but then again I thought it was a joke when they first started showing it on t.v. I didn't think anybody would actually watch someone play cards on t.v. Now look at it. I play both but played it before it was on tv. We didn't used to play Texas hold em' either and now that is all that anyone wants to play. Still prefer pool to poker any day.
