Hi, I'm looking to buy a bk2 as my break cue but I've heard about the phenolic ban? If it is can it be Converted? Thanks, TODD

BK2 is phenolic and yes you can change the TIP. I bet with the new ban all the break cues will start to become available with opitonal hard leather tips (like water buffalo). I would just hang out a few months and I bet you will have a lot of options.

Yes it can be converted.
Use the search function and find what other players are doing

When you buy a BK2 you have the option of choosing phenolic or leather. It has always been that way. I had the option when I bought mine a few years ago.

Samsara J/B Leather Tip, recommended by many on the forum, and some people even like it over the phenolic tips, because it gives more control over the CB. Good luck, and I would also suggest like the above, wait a few months and see where everything goes and settle. I am also interested in what the OB Breaker can do as well.

Which "ban" is this? I've been out of the loop for a while :D

The only difference between bk1 and bk2 is bk1 is hard leather and bk2 is phenolic.

There is one other difference. On the bk2 it says bk2. On the original it does not say that. Call them. I believe you will see I an correct. If I am not I would like to know what other difference there is. Let us know what you find out.

I'm not saying youre wrong, i was just under the assumption they changed something else. you may be 100% correct! thanks for the info

I bought my BK2 when they first came out, and as I stated in the other thread, Predator gives you the option of a phenolic or leather tip. Btw, this is the best break cue you'll ever own.

Well for right now Marissa, OB Break Cues are coming out soon. I have verified the construction is better and it hits like a sledge hammer. Then again everything is subjective, I have had both and prefer the OB.

I also think my customer experience with OB was much better than it was with Predator.

Have a great day!

I've never tried the OB, but I can say my customer service with Darrin and Neil and Predator have always been top notch.

All the best :)

Samsara break / jump.

Made in the USA.

Proprietary super hard leather tip, legal in all sanctioning bodies and takes chalk.

Leather wrap standard.

Custom exotic wood joint protectors.

Dart jump handle included.

Add a playing shaft and and it is an all in one cue.

I did want to note that when I've run into the OB guys at their booths, they are wonderful and nice gentleman. I've no doubt their customer service is the same :)

I wonder if the amount of money lost from players that won't play at phenolic banned events will cost the Bca more money than replacing equipment that the tips cause.
