I know that it goes against common thinking but I don't view plateaus as bad in many instances. You can't play good pool without a lot of table time and there are tons of things to gain competency in. Noone is going to improve on each aspect simultaneously. When I work on things I am multiple areas probably because my ADD makes it hard to work on one or two things in practice.
The learning term is called scaffolding where you strengthen weaknesses to attain higher proficiency across the board (down the road). Eventually you notice higher levels but not necessarily the little stuff. When my progress seems to slow and it looks like a plateau I just assume that I am improving consistency or strengthening weaknesses and am just not noticing it. No idea if that makes sense but I noticed plateau was brought up a few times.
