Is there a standard butt weight?

I've been planning to buy a P2 with a Z or Z-2 shaft. I don't know if I can afford a P2 so i'm thinking about buying just the Z or Z-2 (new) and getting a cheaper butt to play with for now until I can afford a fancy one. The point of me buying my own cue is so I can get use to it. Will there be a big adjustment going from a cheaper butt to a P2 when I get it? Should I just try to save up and stick with a single butt+shaft combo?

thank you.

Here is what I found from weighing my own cues.

Butt 14.4oz shaft 4.7oz = 19.1 SS Joint cue
Butt 15.7oz shaft 3.8oz = 19.5 3/8X10 wood to wood joint, no insert.
Butt 13.3ox shaft 4.4oz = 17.7 sneaky pete with brass insert.
Butt 14.5oz shaft 4.5oz = 19.0 SS Joint cue.

As you can see, the SS joint cue butts are very close in weight.:)

thanks for weighing. seems the joint type most determines weight.

Maybe i'll get the Z shaft unilock with collar type made for the butt i'm eventually wanting to get (P2).

I'm not sure so lets meet over at the bada bing and measure a few gals to find out for sure, tomorrow after 7 is cool with me or now.--Leonard
