Is this a big deal?

What do you cuemakers think about reproducing a shaft a customer gives you? Even though its not yours or your taper could you/would you do it to satisfy a customer? OK, heres my situation, I have a cue in which I really like the shaft but not so much on the butt. Now the obvious answer is to go to the shafts maker, but in my opinion his butt work is below parr. I have a guy in mind who I really like his butt taper and with this combination I may have IMO the perfect cue (probably not though, thats high expectations). So, is this a big deal?

Perfectly fine, IMO. Until some yahoo tries to patent certain tapers, I really don't think anyone can claim any particular rights to how someone cuts a shaft. I have special tapers that I have developed over the years, and have no problem sharing them.

I agree completly.
The taper I use now started out as a copy of a SouthWest shaft but was soon changed to loosen it up just a bit.
I dont see a big issue about copying a shaft for a customer.
