Is this a fake

A friend just bought this cue and is NOW asking me if it might be a fake. Little late to ask after the fact.

I don't know much about Lambros cues but I told him I'd ask the experts here.

At the same time I don't think it's a fake BUT I thought was weird is to say it has a the new ultimate joint (see description) but I think it has the old style logo. I could be wrong about all of this though.

I thought the new Ultimate joint would have the newer logo since Lambros changed the logo before the joint.....I thought... :)

Then the extension has the new logo.

I don't understand it.

Here's the cue (scroll down for the images):

I am no expert on Lambros, or cues in general, but it looks like a Lambros to me (with the very high points, that are the norm for Lambros cues), and it looks very high quality to me. I really love the looks of the cue. I would bet that it is not fake, and 100% authentic (from Lambros). Very beautiful cue. Always love seeing a Lambros (any Lambros is the cue of my dreams).

Looks like the same cue that was at Superior Cues last year but I'm not 100% certain. Martin could confirm for you. Username name is "jazznpool".

Looks legit to me

That cue definately looks like a lambros. Older one I think. Nice cue, good price. I paid over a thou for a plane Jane lamros. One of the best hitting cues on the market today imho.

If it sold for $1200 and it is brand new, it smells of cod.

I have no clue, but I'll insert some levity.

A too good of a cue for the price reminds me of an old joke about two statisticians walking down a busy street. The young statistician sees a $100 bill on the ground and says "Wow, what are the odds of this?!". The old statistician says "Don't bother, I can tell it's a fake". The young statistician says "how can you tell from this far away?" The old statistician says "because if it were real, it would no longer be here."

Math humor...

You can order a brand new cue from Lambros with the old style logo. So the logo is not a clue in this case that the cue is fake. Also the new extensions are all ebony so that looks legit. I think your friend got a killer deal.

Personally, until or unless someone credible comes along, like Martin, who says one way or the other, it looks like this fellow got a hell of a deal on a Lambros pool cue...............just sayin'.

It's a Lambros, no doubt in my mind. I believe it's his standard on a Hoppe ring design to spell Lambros within it since the buttcap doesn't have enough room for his (ML) logo.

That leather wrap is the one thing I suspect isn't (i.e., it was changed). Mike's wrap are extremely tight and the seams are very hard to detect out of the shop. Maybe it was linen originally.

Doug thanks for the PM.

Yes I thought the leather wrap looked way sloppy.
I agree, it may have been a linen wrap.

I know it's gonna be a player, otherwise maybe he would send it to Mike, or Proficient's, to have another leather wrap installed.

Thanks for the help yall. I will tell him not to worry.
