that's bare wood, just sanded. no sealer or anything on it yet

Don't put it in the sun. If it is purple heart you can lightly sand it wipe it down and put it under a fluorescent light (Just a few inches away) for over night or longer turning it from time to time. The color may even out. It should become a dark purple and stay that way once it turns.
