If you have a big threaded tennon and shine a bright light at the installed ferrule, you can sometimes see the threads. Hydex is not as solid in colour as Isoplast. If you're doing a slip fit ferrule or a inverted ferrule for a CF shaft, it won't be an issue at all. Hydex has a ever so slight yellow tint to it. Much better ferrule material than Isoplast imo.I didn't think either was close to being translucent, I'm trying to figure out which one is more white or less off white.
translucent=permitting the passage of light

I think Hydex has more nylon in it? I get my Isoplast from a German supplier and That's super light and white like Elforyn, while the Hydex is from a US supplier and has a more yellow tint and has the Hydex 202 writing on the side. But you know a lot more about thermoset plastics, so I trust your judgementKim,
To the best of my knowledge, Hydex 202, and Isoplast 202 are one in the same. I'm wondering if the color variation is somewhat manufacturer related?

There's several versions of Hydex. I initially bought Hydex to do repairs on SS360 and Jacoby Edge shafts (and others..) and when I look at the round stock of both side by side they are different in colour and Isoplast also gets a gloss finish easier. There's enough difference that I doubt it's a batch issue.I wouldn't go that far.I could be mistaken. There is also a 202EZ version I believe. It's possible that there are subtle differences in some variants of the same material. If my memory serves me correctly, Jacoby used to use Hydex on their Edge Hybrid shafts.
Have you ever had problems with Isoplast and why hydex is superior quality, what reasons, I would have preferred the whitest material possible but I want quality too, for me it's for carbon tubes, for playing and not break, Thank you.If you have a big threaded tennon and shine a bright light at the installed ferrule, you can sometimes see the threads. It might be . Just like phenolics and plastics, they vary from manufacturer to manufacturer . In fact, some even vary from the same manufacturer due to the foreman or shop supervisors.Kim,

If you want the whitest material possible, that's Elforyn. Tomahawk is white too, quite similar to Juma in colour but lighter and stronger.Have you ever had problems with Isoplast and why hydex is superior quality, what reasons, I would have preferred the whitest material possible but I want quality too, for me it's for carbon tubes, for playing and not break, Thank you.
Yess that's what I said, and he listed Juma at approx. 1.6g/cm3, not the best for low deflection. Your answers are always evasive, nothing specific, that's not what I'm looking for for the purpose of comparing different products. When we ask specific things, it's nice to have specific answersI've used Juma for years and I have never had any issues. I think Mr. Dzuricky has a chart on his website where he compares the most popular ferrule materials.
You have two measurements listed, I would say they are pretty close. I don't know how you build your cues, but if you look at the weigh of Juma Elforyn, Hydex, Tomahawk and T34 in a 1/2" piece of ferrule, we are really splitting hairs in terms of it's effect on deflection, so I think the theoretical value and the real world results might not line up so neatly as you think.Yess that's what I said, and he listed Juma at approx. 1.6g/cm3, not the best for low deflection. Maybe if you would take the time to read the questions properly, you wouldn't answer so vaguely or not answer at all and that would be okay. You said that Hydex was a better ferrule than Isoplast, but when I asked you why, you told me something unrelated and so on throughout the thread, that's just the reality.You have two measurements listed, I would say they are pretty close. But since you are not happy with the answers, the best thing is always to see for yourself, then you don't have to rely on others for your information![]()
I told you Hydex was better as I have changed ferrules on a lot of shafts, especially Predator shafts and I have seen Isoplast crack, but not Hydex, that's why I don't believe they are the same and that's also the context I feel Hydex is a better material.Maybe if you would take the time to read the questions properly, you wouldn't answer so vaguely or not answer at all and that would be okay. You just answered my question here above, but look at what you answered me in due time, the subject of thi thread was color between Isoplast and Hydex not on every others ferrule products, sorry if I offensed you.I told you Hydex was better as I have changed ferrules on a lot of shafts, especially Predator shafts and I have seen Isoplast crack, but not Hydex, that's why I don't believe they are the same and that's also the context I feel Hydex is a better material.
I don't think I'm being vague, it's more that you seem frustrated that you don't get answers in a way you are hoping for.
I actually take time out of my day to reply to these threads and I try not to reply if I don't have any meaningful things to say.
