issue I have with aiming...

Ok, so without getting too indepth with my medical history here, I have double vision. My eyes do not align to allow me to see one image. I deal with this by rotating my head a tiny amount when I shoot, so my left eye is lower than my right eye, and I am then only shooting with one image (versus two if I used both eyes). Is this small amount of rotation effecting my shooting at all?

check your pm
i have a phoria with my eyes that causes double vision
i would rather discuss this via PM

Have you tried closing one eye?
Couple other things:
Aiming and shooting are separate tasks - you can for instance aim before you get down and then get in position and shoot.
I actually align my stick with double vision. This solves the eye dominance thing for me. The two images form a convenient sight to look through.

I have tried closing one eye, I find that my muscles required to close my left eye make the vision in my right eye blurry, hence I tilt my head a little. I have considered blacking out the left lens of my shooting glasses. What do you mean you align your stick and the two images form a convenient sight?

It's exactly like that bar joke. Shoot the one in the middle. Srsly.
Get down over the stick and let your focus relax. Now their are two sticks in your field of vision. Straddle the cue ball with that image.
You need to find the symmetrical offset and also make sure the double image is horizontal. Works fine for me.

It sounds silly but it's true. I can't say exactly for OP. If you hold a pencil at arms length and focus on the tip, the background (OB) will be double. If you shift your focus to the background, the pencil will be double. You can focus on cue tip and double both the CB and OB. It will probably take some experimentation to figure it out. OP might want to get a laser level like this to do some self experimenting. Basically a similar laser level like that, with vertical and horizontal beams won't lie. He'll have to figure out hot to align to that and see the shots. It will definitely take some experimentation but I think this can be overcome.

I'm not sure if he's still doing clinics or not, but I'd suggest contacting Geno @ perfectaimbilliards. He's really sharp on helping people with eye issues. He can do in person (depending on where you're at of course) or skype sessions. The prices are reasonable and I really think he's great at diagnosing and helping to improve sight related issues when it comes to billiards.

Do you aim before you get down using your (if your a right handed player) right heel?

i had a thread related to that in the ask the instructor forum many years ago
i said this
"
when you line up for the shot
put the cue stick up close to parallel ( not close to your face)to your face
you should now see 2 cue sticks and keep the image BETWEEN the two imaginary sticks
DO NOT MOVE YOUR HEAD AND COME STRAIGHT DOWN ON THAT LINE
that should keep you on your visual center"
....
here is the link to the thread

the problem is for me when my double vision is bad there isnt just 1 distinct ball between the "2' cue shafts
so i know i am on the shot line but have to guess where to aim as i dont have a clear image
