"It's not what you mean, it's what goes on in between"

These threads in relation to Mark Tadd are THE example of why PRO'S avoid these message boards like the damn plague...what a waste of their time when the history of these more popular pool message boards is: at any time there are 10>20 most prolific posters who somehow delude themselves into the belief, or should I say addiction, that forces them to post just to see/hear themselves. Who cares how Mark T expresses himself? I did not miss his point......"Been there, done that and this is how I feel about it....take it for whatever you think it is worth"

I think you 10>20 who can't stop yourselves should take Mark Tadds basic advice, drop your keyboard and pick up your pool cue...it is FEEL and there is one and only one way to find that FEEL and the way is to purposefully hit hundreds of thousands of balls, if you have any natural ability at all your level of play will go up.

If you are one of the PROLIFICS my bet is your level of play is staying the same or going down because your not on the pooltable hitting balls. When you spend hours a day replying to posts or just reading to staying up with posts your game is pissing against the wind. Sure, there are some nuggets of pool knowledge on these boards but if you want to be the best your time is best spent elsewhere.

P.S.
I have sat at the feet of Marks game for six hours from six feet. What did I learn? I'm not telling you because it is not what you mean, it is what goes on in between. I don't want the prolifics twisting my words.....LOL

Some of us really lucky ones can both post on AZ and play a lot of pool :D

And I do not believe that there is a correlation between posting frequency and pool playing skills. If so then Mark Tadds game is going south as we speak. And Judes game may have come up a notch after changing jobs. Then there is DCP ... OK, maybe he's an exception, but I think I made my point anyway.

Mark hasn't posted one bit of actual information, he just snipes at those of us who are trying to help others.

Any self-respecting pro would never approach this forum with Mark's attitude. Any self-respecting human wouldn't. He comes off like a total buffoon. I can respect a pro who answers a question they've been asked, but not someone that just runs around, policing all the posts.

BTW- What kind of feet does Mark have?. Are they furry with long claws?.:D

Tons.......Your averaging 25 posts a day...well on your way to 'prolificness'esssness.......there is still time to save yourself.....being such a good judge of others character (see: "He comes off like a total buffoon") you might try some self analysis of your own etiquette quotient.

I think this whole thing started with the aiming thing. A post was made regarding "Feel". To get to feel you need other developments. The answers are god-like when someone leaves it as "Feel", which is not reality. What gets a player to the point were they can be honored with this "Feel" is the question that has not been answered.

Just looking for a reasonable and intelligent explanation for beginning players to engrave in their minds so they too can forget a system exists because they too are not aware of it anymore. Or for advancing players who may need confirmation that their system is a good system of choice.

When Tiger Woods went back to re-develop his swing it was a clear indication that feel does not drive his game. "Feel" works best when all systems are working. Pool is no different.

I think the how you get the "feel" got answered.

Right, but you can hit balls all you want and achieve nothing ever, unless you finially realize that aiming is part of it is important. All that is being asked is how the aiming was achieved. What is looked at. Apparently this information is impossible for some to describe and I guess I'll leave it there.

I think I read your point of view in several threads. It would be easier to publish your manifesto online and just link to it instead of retyping :)

This "feel" term comes up quite often, and to tell you the truth, after reading quite a bit on the subject and hearing it firsthand from a player's mouth, I'm not sure I understand what it means. [Notice "Hours of Pool" on my sig line below: Zero] :p

I always remember hearing Willie Mosconi quotes in the pool room when I was younger. The most prominent one was: "When in doubt, use the mechanical bridge." There's nothing worse than seeing a player standing on one leg like a stork or shooting left-handed or even one-handed thereafter followed by a miss.

Willie Mosconi writes in his book: "...the player should develop a soft stroke. Constant practice is the only answer. The player must 'feel' the force necessary on the shot that confronts him...." Willie wasn't too gender conscious in his writings, but he does use the term "feel" and placed it in quotes. :D

Yes, feel is incredibly important to develop. Much different than aim. You could almost define "Feel" as a sixth sense.

Wow!!! That is hard to believe, are you and Keith not talking. I would have to believe he is one of the greatest "feel" players ever. When he is "on" it is just bang, bang, bang everything drops, no hesititations, no thinking, no doubts and no "mechanical" movements or adjustments, no systems, no nothing just the sound of balls dropping.
