It's official - Smarter people crumble easier under pressure

I think this has to do more with the way the educational system is set up and the priorities of such people. I think that a lot of these people decide to put forth a minimum of effort in university because they reallize that it doesn't really matter. They concentrate on other things that enrich their lives and things that will be more beneficial later on in life. It's all in how you play the game! I can tell you this, as someone who isn't that smart, I have a 3.8 GPA majoring in Biochemistry and am a computer technician to pay the bills. Those C students probably didn't even go to class half the time.

Yeah but how much did their daddies control?

Of course, thrse is a high percentage of these people in this category too. Our current Commander in Chief definitely falls into this category.

I don't know about you, my pupils are always the same shade of black. However, the dilation of my iris changes from time to time...lol. :D Sorry, I couldn't resist, especially with the current topic of conversation.

No Way

I once told my Mother "I'm not as dumb as I look." She just agreed and left me standing there with a puzzled look on my face. Ha ha

A friend of mine is a Ph.D. in Chemistry and she breaks it down like this:

B.S. = Bull Shit
M.S. = More Shit
Ph.D.= Pile it higher and Deeper!

A scientific study shows that smart peoples' mental ability gets easily reduced by pressure, but dumber people keep on going at the same level no matter what:

Ties in nicely with the "don't think just shoot" theory for handling the mental aspects of Pool.

Hi Aunty,
The study has a big flaw.All the other variables were not cosidered in that study.cheers

Intelligence creates the high tech stuff we use, but to make those products successful, you need people who are able to think at a much more average level (doesn’t mean their stupid). This has always been a known. Those with greater capabilities will tend to talk over the average buyer leaving that buyer confused. Result is no sale. I know this is somewhat off topic, but there is absolute proof of cases where products were marketed against the grain of common marketing strategies taught in schools and were highly successful. Maybe instead of intelligence, or rather lack of, in pool and other things we should consider "common sense" instead.

In other words, smart people don't waste their lives exclusively trying to accumulate wealth.

And here I thought Ph.D. was a Pool Hall Degree.

No, in other words, these smart people realize that there's no return on the investment needed to get an A average rather than a C average and just go through the motions in college and persue other interests while there.

The people who spend all the time needed to acheive an "A" average tend to lack the people skills of the "C" average people who recieve what I believe was a more rounded education. For example most people who enter teachers college need vary high marks, which inturn cuts down on the people skills that are needed to teach people.
Just my thoughts.

Vagabond, this is a good thing. You only want one variable.

You might argue that the sample size is not large enough, but since we don't know anything about the sample size or the performance numbers, then we can't perform a statistical analysis to prove whether or not there is a correlation.

No return on the investment? Try getting into law school, med school, business school, or graduate school with a C average.

That's not my experience at all. We're generalizing here, but in my experience the C average student has fewer people skills than the A average student.

Well, the C average students out there that are uber successful aren't the ones that went to those various schools, or they got what they needed to get to get into said school and then got the C's. The point is that there are people out there that are uber successful that got C's not that all people who get C's are uber successful.
