The makers of ivory handgun grips recommend applying baby oil occasionally to prevent cracking. Is that also a good idea for ivory ferrules, joints, butt caps, etc.? Thanks.

According to Richard Black it is (I do it and havent cracked a ferrule).

The joint and butt cap is protected by the finish, It wouldn't hurt the ferrule,
