Sorry, tried to post onthe ivory ban thread, but can't. Looked in the blogs section, but can't find the thead. Here's what I want to add, Please transfer it where it belongs: I admit from the start that most of the posters here are more knowledgeable than me. I do recall that Bush ignored the border issue, which seemed wrong to me. Now, O'Bama continues that policy, but it has escalated, big time. I try to keep an open mind and, deep inside, believe that those in power are watching out for the country. However, I can't get a grip on our open border. I hear it's the Dems seeking future votes, but why would Bush do the same? Some say it is an internationalist (one-world gov) effort to dilute the US white-man's vote, and that our Presidents (Bush, O'Bama et al) are merely pawns of the internationalists. Both, a Republican and Democratic president do the same, which confounds me. What the "H" is going on? I'm old, and will escape most of the aftermath, but I am curious about others' interpretations of what is happening. It seems like an open border undermines everyone, especially the lower classes that do the menial jobs.

I thought Bush was the one who approved the building of the fence the full length of the border and adding more border patrol. That is not ignoring it. It may not have been doing enough, but it was not ignoring it.

Border Ivory

They all do a little bit to keep half the country happy, and then, nothing to keep the other half happy. Inside the border states themselves there's no consensus and the local politicians play both sides like a fiddle. If we wanted to stop the influx we would have done it a long time ago. Very true in Arizona politics in particular.

Why would large quantities of Ivory get smuggle accross the Mexican border, these guys are not Mensa candidates but they know drugs are more profitable.
