I've seen some cues by Richard Black and Ginacue which seem to be made from ivory from top to bottom. What's the mechanism behind that? Is it a hollow ivory forearm and buttsleeve with a maple core inside (or other wood)? How much ivory is needed to make such a cue?
I just finished a cue with a Ivory handle. It is cored with maple to save weight. It has a Ebony forearm that is not cored, and weighs 20.9 oz with no weight bolt. Perfect weight for me if nobody wants it, but I like a little weight to my cues. It also has 3 Three piece Ivory points, 3 three piece Ivory shields, Ivory joint and butt with Ivory spears running from them between the points. It also has 53 Lapis inlays.
The reason to core Ivory is it is comperable to Ebony in weight. But it does hit GREAT.
saw a guy playing in one of our yearly tournaments with a white cue and didnt think much of it till i found out it was all ivory,,,,,,,,WOW what a cue. i believe he told me he turned down 18k for it
