Ivory ferrule

Is there an issue to worry about when trimming down an ivory ferrule shaft? I tried to get used to a 13mm but just can't and thinking about trimming down to my preferred 12.7 or even 12.5.

I assume you will be having a pro turn it down? Just make sure they baby oil it after and shouldn't be an issue. I baby oil all my natural material ferrules every year, keeps them from drying out and cracking

I have a couple cues with 12.5mm ivory ferrules. .5mm = .019 inches so each side of the ferrule would be less than .010 thinner, not much of a difference.

Baby or mineral oil?

Baby oil is mineral oil, as I understand. The difference is a slight smell is added to the baby oil. When you buy baby oil, you know it's the highest quality mineral oil.
And, I have always used Baby oil. My cue maker recommended it and comes with the "how to care for your custom cue" paperwork when you buy a cue. I'm sure a high grade Mineral Oil would be fine too.

Thanks Jon. I have 1 cue with full ivory joint & only 1 shaft with ivory. How do I treat them? Apply with a Q tip maybe then wipe off with paper towel? Also, it shouldn't hurt to get it on the side of my tip should it? Thanks ahead!
