I'm getting a ivory joint put on my joss and was wondering how much this would change the feel, ballance point, and would this change the stiff hit? thanks, in advance

Depends if you want a sleeved ivory joint or full ivory joint. Is it a steel jointed joss or a joss sneaky?

steel joint

it is a full steel joint and i will be replacing it with a full ivory joint. and i am a pool god i get out like shout, just have never had a ivory joint and think it would look ten times better with one on there and make the value a little higher with that and a leather wrap.

thanks, chuck

I definitely like a full ivory joint better than the sleeved. Good choice. As far as balance a cuemaker will have to chime in. It wont effect the stiffness. The hit may seem a little softer. But you can just upgrade the tip to a harder one. Try a pressed Triangle or Molavia Hard.

Just got my 1st solid ivory piloted joint - usually use SS piloted. The solid ivory is a lot lighter, so you'll notice the balance point move back & the nose lighten up. As far as hit & performance - that's subjective.

It will soften the hit.......slightly

Will also lighten it up and move the balance point back. Personal experience, Scott

It'll be different by day and night. Since you don't know, I say go for it just to chalk up the experience. I personally love it more than any other hit, but I do love the steel joint / ivory ferrule hit too. I just made an ivory joint cue and it will hit like a set of mp-33's as opposed to a set of dci-962's.

Ivory jointed cues are mood-swing induced. Hit it one day, and it will hit like no tomorrow. Hit it another day and it will react like differently. Remember, ivory is a part of nature..... like wood. If you're getting a piloted 5/16x14 you should like it. Just take care of it. Be mindful of the temperature, and keep a jp on it.

thanks for all the help on here. i will definately have to get me some jp's for the joint dont really care about the ones for a shaft. doesnt look like it does much good imo. thanks again i hope its as sweet as yall say.
