I was wondering if an ivory ferrule can be placed on a predator shaft. I was thinking of getting one but I do love the hit of an ivory ferrule. Or, would this take away from the point of having a predator shaft in the first place?
Thanks,
Jordan

The answer is yes. What makes a predator what it is is in the ferrule and first 8 inches of the shaft. The ferrule is extra thin walled, and is a much softer material than ivory, and I think that a like for like replacement with ivory would be liable to crack. You can get a fine standard shaft with ivory ferrule at less than the cost of a predator. Putting on an ivory ferrule the standard way (threaded over a tennon), would change the low squirt characteristics that you paid predator for.

On Predator shafts, if you change the ferrule to anything other than Predators product you void all warranty's that might apply to that shaft. Now if you do decide to do the change you will add deflection to the shaft.

That would void and negate the supposed less deflective properties of the predator shaft. If you want a radial laminated shaft, there are others available on the market and you could have an ivory ferrule as a custom option... but be prepared to compensate for your aim when applying english

What if you get a Predator blank?

The partial shaft comes with the ferrule and the blank thing is on the collar and joint only... remember their design and patent is on the ferrule so having a different ferrule is out of the question.

I replaced a broken ferrule on one of my Predator shafts years ago with an Ivorine 3 ferrule. I used the exact design and dimensions of the original ferrule. As I recall, it deflected more than before. I will have to dig it out and test it again now that I have many Predator shafts to compare it with side by side. I also replaced one for a customer with the same Ivorine 3 ferrule. He was happy with it.
