J&J Break Cues?

I was wondering if I could get some input about the "pros" and "cons" of J&J Break Cues. Thanks in advance.

Well worth the money, easy to break down, will make the cue ball fly if you know how to jump, and breaks like a hammer. They are MORE than well worth the money. I own one and will continue to own one until it falls apart.

About the only con to me is the bumper wont stay in most of their cues. Luckily mine stays in right now but I know of others that wont stay in (including their other shooting cues).

They are good, for the money they are great.
Another minus might be they use thick shafts and heavy tapers so if you
have small hands/prefer thinner shafts this is not the cue for you.
Off course this thick shaft is what makes it work so...
You can also just about forget getting another shaft for it, it will fit very poorly, they don't have exact standards.

Pro's would be the breaking and jumping work good, both butts can be used for jumping.
Overall I'd give it a 8.5 (out of 10).
Now go send Chrisonline or dooziexx a pm for one of those badboys,
and $60-65 later you'll have a nice one in your hands.

gr. Dave

I know that J&J is also making Spark Break cues just for breaking. Any comments on that?

I think if the shaft wasnt so thick......... It be a real monster..

They break damn good already... I have huge hands and I have trouble getting a good comfortable bridge with the JJ.....

I like my j&j though I did have it lightened up and a new bumper put in. My only issue is the ferrule/tip. Tip kept flying off. Finally went to a all in one ferrule/tip combo on the cue. Doesn't jump as well now, but breaks better.

I have never tried any other JB cue so I cant compare. I break straight ahead and use the table as a bridge so I have no problem with the thick shaft. Very rarely do I NOT make a ball on a 9 footer. I just started to having to break on barboxes (our city tourney is on them) so its taking me a few but I made 5 last weekend which was the first time I used it on a barbox. 8 footers I'm hit and miss, depends on the cloth for me.

Also the only 2 JJ's I have ever owned has the FLAT phenolic tip combo.......Really sucks IMO........If it was rouded would have been much better I think

Are you talking about the ones with the very short ferrules and a flat tip on top? If so, thats the one I have and havent had a problem with it yet.

My buddy has the same exact stick but with the brown phenolic tip (it looks like its one piece). I dont like the hit of it but it does make it easy to jump.

Thank you for all the info. it really helps to decide what to get. Probably I'll just get a Mezz or a BK2. Any experience with the Mezz PB with Deep Impact shaft?

Yea thas the one............ I jsut dont really care for it......... I mean it jumps pretty easy and whatnot.....

The J&j's Are Bar None The Best Jb For The Money.......

I Have A Custom Carolina That Works Better, But Cost Considerably More Than The J&j.

P.s. The Taper Has To Be Thick And Stiff For A Jb To Work Properly.

Maybe a thick straight taper....................Not to mentoin the shaft wood is crap quality.........both shafts I had for both of my JJ's warped after 2 months.........

For the budget pool player...... cant go wrong

I'VE HAD ABOUT 30 GO THROUGH MY HANDS THAT I RESOLD, AND NEVER HAD ANY WARP. I HAVE 6 OR 7 THAT ARE USED DAILY IN MY POOLROOM, AND NO ONE HAS COMPLAINED ABOUT WARPAGE. MAYBE IT'S YOUR CLIMATE OR CARE OF THE CUE?

P.S. I'LL AGREE THAT THE WOOD ISN'T THE BEST, BUT FOR 60 BUCKS HOW GOOD CAN YOU EXPECT IT TO BE??
