Does anyone know where I can get pins and inserts like the ones used in J&J J/B's? I have a customer that wants a new shaft made. Thanks.
 
You gotta make em as far as I know. It is a miserable thread and the pin is cast I believe. It is a MODIFIED 5/16-14 if my memory serves me correct. I have made drive sets for these. I do not have a tap to make inserts though. For around 150 bucks you could have a tap made. A word on the tap. Not all tap makers will be able to make a tap with a flat root.
 
For the cost of a j&J cue buy the cue and cannibalize it for the inserts and pins.
 
I thought of that. He wants to keep the original shaft as is, otherwise I would just do like I normally do which is change the ferrule and tip, and make some adjustments. I think I'm going to tell him to buy a second shaft on ebay and I'll make the adjustments to that one. Cheaper for him and less of a headache on my part. Then he'll have the original shaft and also the new suped up one.
