Sorry that it took so long for me to write this review, I purchased this for my brother a month or so back and I wanted to give it a true test run when my splint comes off of my hand, so here it is:
This cue is called a J&KV J/B is because it is a J&J J/B that Kevin Varney has customized. It has an ivorine IV and G-10 tip combo on it. I must say I am very happy with it. The J&J cue itself is a great started J/B and plus the tip and ferrule combo, it really cracks the rack open with very little effort. It takes a little while to get use to, but once you get use to it, it is great!
Quality: I must say, the ferrule and tip's workmanship by Varney is some of the best I have ever seen. Everything was put together perfectly. There is not a thing I could find to nit pick about Kevin. Loving it, and if anyone is interested in one, please give Kevin a PM. I don't break very hard, so I have not yet seen any sort of damage done to the CB, such as chipping or starburst cracks.
The taper is closer to a regular cue, more or a pro taper. It tapers from the joint at 21.5mm to the tip at 13.32mm.
Great guy to deal with, very kind, very helpful and very smooth transaction. I would have zero doubt about dealing with Kevin again.
For pictures and a better description, please click the link in my signature. Thanks again for the great J/B Kevin
Happy shooting!
